Long Time.......

Okay so it has been a really log time since I updated this blog. But doing a cache a day became more of a chore then fun over the winter months.  Not that this winter was anything to complain about, I couldn't have asked for nicer weather to complete this challenge. But HAVING to go get a cache every day sometimes takes the fun out of the whole adventure!
However, the journey is now two thirds complete and the nicer weather is already upon us and the caching adventures have begun! About 6 weeks ago on Family Day, we decided to start a series in Barrie called The Face of Barrie. It was a series of 18 puzzle caches, that made a happy face over the water in Barrie. On Family Day, we were able to complete 12 of the caches, and vowed to return to complete the remaining six. Well today was that day!
The day started at 7am, when we left home. At 8:30 we met ErinGoGreen (EGG), at our designated spot and the adventure began. We left one car parked at the "end" of the trail, and drove EGG's car to our starting point. Along the trail, we found 5 caches, 4 of them from the Face of Barrie, plus an extra. Not sure what the distance was that we actually walked along the trail, but after finding all the caches, we emerged at the end just before 11am! Not bad, considering the last cache took at least a hour to fin, so we weren't actually walking the whole time.
Time for lunch and to plan our strategy to tackle the hardest cache on the list. A 4/4, with water involved.
Getting to GZ, was not too difficult, but once we arrived a little more thought was needed. We were not fully prepared. We knew there was water, but Mark actually had to wade in the water up to his knees!! He rolled up his pants tightened his boots and went into the culvert! EGG and I stayed behind and stayed dry. No sense three people getting wet! It didn't take long, Mark emerged having signed the log and claiming the smiley!! Now only one more to go, and we already knew exactly where it was. We had been to it back on Family Day, however the cache was not accessible since it was frozen inside a tree stump! EGG and I walked sown the trail to make the find, while Mark stayed in the car drying out! It was only 1:30pm and we completed our task of finishing the Face of Barrie!!

Isn't this cool!! It was so worth it! Thanks to ErinGoGreen for joining us on this adventure.

With the Face complete, there was still time to complete a few extra caches. We finished the day with 12 more, for a total of 18 on the day!
Now we are home, exhausted and ready for a dip in the hot tub!
Only 4 more months to go to complete the full 366 days! More updates to come!
